Hey how’s it going I’ve got a problem with my 2003 F350 6.0. Basically stock other than a few little things (58 volt ficm, bd boost fooler) I’ve been having some injector problems and I have a few ideas but I’d like to get an outside perspective on the issue. I’ve had the truck for about a year now and I drove the piss out of it and kept up on maintenance and it’s treated me well(change filters every 5000, oil every 10, sometimes sooner never later) about 6 months ago I replaced injector #1 because it got a bad misfire, it’s held up well since then and I’m confident it was installed properly, never had a problem with it till about 2 weeks ago, keep in mind this is a brand new injector. Out of no where it started misfiring, I checked the codes and it’s contribution balance cylinder #1, which I thought was weird, I let the truck sit for a day and checked my injector harness wires, ficm plugs and everything looked fine. When I went to start the truck the next morning, boom the misfire was gone and the truck sounded fine, no codes, nothing weird happening. I drove the truck on a few long trips since then and it ran great, then today I was idling in the parking lot after getting some groceries and the truck starts missing, once again injector #1. I’m thinking I might have just got a faulty injector, but I’d like to save myself tearing it down to install again. I did my oil under 5000 km ago and my filters last week, but was thinking maybe it’s just something dirty in my oil clogging the injector??? Let me know if you have any ideas, could really use an outside perspective. Also i do have something to monitor my gauges if you guys need any more info just let me know. Sorry for the long wall of text I don’t post often.

Truck started missing again opened it up on a drive then cleared the codes after, Miss went away no code for a while then I take it for another drive and boom the misfire is back again. Thinking it may be dirty oil clogging #1 because it’s the first in the cycle, let me know if you think this is plausible or have any other ideas

You're running your oil to long. The 6.0 simply can't go 10k on oil, it's to hard on it. Max oil change intervals should be 5k. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? Low pressure will kill injectors in a hurry.

Check your fuel pressure, the injectors need 45 psi minimum and 65 would be better
Fuel pressure 6.0 M12x1.5MM adapter
a permanent gauge is recommended, but for the time being you can get an oil pressure gauge from the auto parts house pretty cheap

I consider these to be a required set if you want to have a healthy 6.0
an electric gauge and sender is what I suggest for all 6.0 engines
base oil pressure gauge
and coolant bottle gauge
EGT if you have room

Oh wow I had no idea I’ve been running it for too long, looks like I’ll be heading out to change my oil ASAP. No I don’t have a fuel pressure gauge but I will look into it, I was also told a blue spring mod might help but I’ve never tried it. Thanks for getting back to me

Okay thanks for the info, I haven’t been monitoring fuel pressure but I will get that figured out ASAP

The blue spring mod isn't an option, it needs to be done.
