Now that I have a 2000 with the inter-cooler, I really understand the CCV mod. The boots on the intake side are really oiled up. Is there any way to clean the cooler, aside from removing it and having it boiled out? I plan on doing the CCV mod, but, to my way of thinking, if the boots are showing that much oil on the outside, the inside is probably gunked up pretty good.

That can't be good for air flow, boost, or fuel mileage.

Remove the IC... it's easy. Allow it to soak in Simple green over night and then emtpy out. Use compressed air to help dry it out.

Remove boots, clean them in simple green as well and clean them. Clean out the I/C tubes as well. You may have to do this several times in order to get most of the oil out.
