My 97 has a 4" exhaust with no catalytic converter, a TW 6 position chip, an ATS intercooler, IDM mod and a few other cats and dogs for mods.

I was going to go with full force stage 1 injectors until I realized I could get my injectors made into stage ones for half the cost at Rosewood Diesel. That was my plan as soon as I can find a week that I can do without my truck.

I was reading the new Diesel Power magazine last night about the upgrades to their 97 Powerstroke. They made 353 hp and 747 ft/lbs with the 170cc stage one injectors in their truck.

They put in 238/80 hybrid injectors in the same truck and made 420 hp and 788 ft/lbs of torque.

Pretty impressive and it all depends on what your plans are for your truck. If your truck is an ongoing mod then yes these injectors sound great because they can be turned up with your other mods and you only have to buy one set of injectors.

In my case, my truck is my tow rig and I was just planning on maximizing the potential of the stock components. Here are some of my concerns with the hybrid injectors.

1. Forget trying this with the stock transmission. Mine at this point is still stock. They use a NADP heavy Hauler E4OD transmission.

2. Will the stock fuel system support this kind of power? They use a Dieselsite CPR electric fuel system in their testing. My fuel system is stock.

3. I'm quite certain adding these injectors would also require a larger turbo? They use a Comp Turbo TP38. I would maybe look for a Bean Diesel D-66 if were to buy these injectors. They have already maxed out the capability of the TP38 turbo and are now looking for a GT42 or a GTP38R to turn the power up even more.

4. The cost difference of the injectors. They bought theirs from Unlimited Diesel Performance for $1,850. Rebuilt stage ones are under $600.

5. Does Tony Wildman have the tuning to support dialing back the fuel on these hybrids until the other supporting mods can be purchased that will be capable of surviving the 500 RWH potential of these hybrid injectors? The fuel would have to be gradually turned up as the mods increased.

What do you guys think about this?

if your just looking for something to help with towing the rosewoods will be fine. Only thing you will really need is a HPOP. Mods in my sig. Stock turbo and fuel system with jims stage 1's. Need more fuel for racing around but daily driving and towing it works great

Thank you Kyle.

For the $, it's tough to overlook the Rosewood stage 1's.

Now will Jim makes hybrids out of stock injectors? If so, I wonder what the cost of that would be?

Then again, there is the cost of a bigger turbo, upgraded fuel system, transmission upgrade, etc... the tap into the power potential of the hybrids.

im not sure on how jim does his hybrids. But your right. Your looking at a lot of money to do so anyway. In my mind if you really wanted to get the big numbers you would go with a different motor than the 7.3. But for reliable and plenty of power for your trailer youll be happy with stage 1's. As far as tranny you will still need to be careful. Im on my 3rd tranny in just over a year lol. I just finally got it built right

Get over stage 1's..you WILL have to have a built trans, turbo and fuel system..now start adding studs, VS's, bigger IC its gona get $$$

Even stage 1's should have trans mods..6.0 Tq converter and a BTS VB along with the biggert trans cooler..

i would just go with the stage 1's. with what you're wanting to do, it sounds like that will be plenty.

i just got my injectors back from rosewood last weekend, and i absolutely love them. jim is a great guy to work with and you just can't beat the price. i ran on the dyno this weekend with them and got 372/632 so you'll be getting plenty of power to pull the trailer around. :thumb:

Haha ouch. I hate having a ton of stickers or tons of performance stickers on it. But since this is my first chance to do injectors, I did that one, A&M, my fraternity, and just waiting on my org sticker.

i was only messing bout the stickers, as long as its tasteful in my opinion, you get those guys and the whole back window and all over the fenders is stickers.

pulled up next to a guy one time with the stickers all down the fender, it was a stock mazda, i asked him how much of the advitersiment he had in his car, he said none. why did he even do stickers
:dunno:
