I inherited a 99 F450 with a dead IDM, pn F7TF-12B599-AB, which apparently is a 1994 1/2 through 1999 unit. A reman outfit is offering a unit to replace all early styles, are all the various pn's for all those years interchangeable? What's the difference? Is it worth trying to get a reman unit with any modifications if I want to up power for heavy towing? No one seems to have a answer and, advice would be appreciated! Also I would love to find a transfer case and front x for this truck, what case and x was offered orginally? Thanks, davidjon

they can interchange i have a 02 idm in my 97

I also have an 02 IDM, in my 96. Theres a voltage change. 94-97 IDM voltage is 110v. 99-02 are 120v. Actually opens the injector quicker and holds it open longer.

So just swap in any PN IDM? Any mods required? Davidjon

The only other mod concerning the IDM is changing a resistor inside so it changes the voltage to 140. Search IDM mod. If you dont have a steady hand and little experience soildering...find someone who is willing to do the mod...The IDM inereds dont like heat! I burnt mine up, thats how I wound up with a 02 IDM.
