OK I have searched this topic, and have seen alot of people say you do not need bungs for any reason in a straight pipe exhaust.

I Know pre turbo EGT's are the most important, and I want to get a pyro pre turbo when i do the EGR Delete in a year or so.

I will be doing a 5 Inch Turbo Back exhaust with a Black Maxx in the near future.

I want to use the factory Pyrometers (3 or 4 of them right?) for the purposes of turbo cool down, monitoring, and for the heck of it.

I might as well use them since there already there right?

I guess I also need to know what brand exhaust offers bungs in 5", and where to order it from?

This has been covered many times over in the last year or so but I'll give you some answers.

The factory pyros that are in the exhaust now are disabled when the PCM gets programmed with delete tunes.

Monitoring EGT that far downstream of the turbo is a waste of time. The numbers are WORTHLESS and have no meaning really. Pre-turbo EGTs are the only ones that count for anything, period.

You don't have to fully delete the EGR to be able to monitor EGTs properly. Obviously you're deleting the emissions equipment which disables the EGR when the PCM gets programmed. A $40 set of block-off plates from H&S is all you need to get real EGT numbers that will mean something. Not sure why anyone running delete tunes wouldn't do this....

Another thing, your exhaust will be DP back, not turbo back. The OEM double walled 4" DP works just fine.

I actually mounted 2 pyros (pre and post) in my 6.0L to see what the difference was.
The post was totally useless compared to the reactions of the pre-, and was usually in the neighborhood of 600 degrees off when under heavy pull...

As previously stated, pre-turbo is the only reading that matters. With the tuner, you will be able to monitor pre-turbo if you get an EGR delete. The EGR delete will have a tapped bung to receive one of the factory pyro sensors.

not trying to take over your thread Big Laing but what are you guys doing with the sensors you pull out of the factory exhaust? I drive on gravel roads very often and i plan on doing a dp back exhaust and putting my factory exhaust back on anytime the truck has to go to the dealer. only thing is the closest dealer is about 300ish km away (180 miles) and its all gravel road. i really dont want to have a sensor get all clogged up and then bring the truck in and have all sorts of codes up and have the techs dicking around with my truck.
