I have a 95 F 350 XLT with power windows and this problem just started not too long ago. The drivers side window will roll down just fine. It's when I want to roll it up it starts jumping and if it's half way down it will start moving down while jumping instead of up. The only way to get it up is to grab the window and pull on it while pressing the switch down and then it will go by itself. Then there are times when it will go up and down like it's suppose to do with the switch. And when it's up and I'm on a bumpy road it starts to go down in very small increments without touching the switch. Where I live in my 5th they have a rule that we can't work on our vehicles so before I take it to a shop I would like to have an idea of just what the problem might be. Any ideas

Probably either the window motor or regulator. It's a pretty simple fix. If you can't work on it yourself then the shop should be able to knock it out in no time.

thanks marine 5811. Before I asked I was thinking maybe the regulator. Just got back from the shop. Had oil and fuel filter changed last month and after stopping at the bank this morning I had diesel all over the ground. They found the O ring had split. Said they never had that happen before. Hope they're right. side note, If 5811 is your MOS I'm an 1811.

In 68 I was at Pendleton. 69 and 70 Nam. Only world they let me see. 90 mm was pretty awesome and the biggest gun this 18 yr old had ever seen. oh raw

My window did that in my 95, replaced the motor and all was good, its cheap and easy!

It could be the motor, but most likely it is the plastic "dogs" in the the motor drive. In most cases, you can take the motor out without removing the entire regulator. Sometimes depending on the door, you need to drill holes in the inner sheet metal to access the motor securing screws. Anyway, once the motor is out you will usually fid the dogs in pieces. You can get new ones in the Motormite HELP! section at many autoparts places for about $8 or so. Some folks even use 5/16" (I think) hex nuts instead of plastic dogs. I just used the HELP! replacements. Cheers!
