HPOP 04 should I switch to 05.

I am putting my new engine together,And wondering should I move up to the 2005 HPOP. The engine in my truck has the diesel site bullet pump (04 style) and I have not had any issues with it.I know the 05s and up idle smoother etc…..
It’s not a must do,just figured now would be the time. Thanks

You are aware it requires more than a 05 pump ?

I think if I had the Dieselsite 04 I would run with it

Correct.I have everything except the pump. However I will probably just go with what I have.

Where did you get the branch tubes and what did they cost?
It came from and engine that needs a rebuild.
I can see then why this is a consideration. But that should be a good pump. And Mark would know better, but with the '04 I thought you would not have the standpipe issue. But I live in 2003 world.

My truck is actually a mix,it has the 03/04 hpop, but has the wavy rails.
Every single 04 6.0L had the "round" aluminum HPOP. The late 04's had the update to the wavy oil rails, but still had the round pump. This late 04 update (from the factory) to the wavy oil rails, required their own specific branch tubes, which are different than the 03 (and early 04), but also different from the 05's.

Jack was referring to issues that seem to have arisen with standpipe reliability. This seems to have affected "late 04's and up" equally. The 03's and early 04's just don't have the issues with their standpipes.

Never mind I read it wrong.

If the engine is out and torn down, I would swap to the 05 and newer setup. They simply last so much longer.

Are the Alliant hpop good replacements?
I currently have and Adrenaline in my truck that is running.I will be pulling the engine ,putting it in another truck for my son.
So I thought I might just go ahead and swap to the newer style pump.I do have a (05) pump but not sure the mileage etc…
Is there any unique numbers that would identify a ford oem HPOP over the other brands?
Which IPR would be used,if truck is and 04. The 05-07 P/N for 05 and up hpop?
