Mine does it too sometimes. Have you gotten under the truck and tried to wiggle your driveshaft? It is loose? It is pretty easy to see if a U-joint is going bad, there would be a lot of excessive play.
I really just think when you put it into gear sometimes it slams, or clunks because of driveline slack.
