I recently ministered my fuel rail pressure on FORscan to try and figure out why I kept going into limp mode. I keep popping p0088 in the PCM so I cleared codes to see my actual fuel rail pressure. I ran the desired side by side with the actual and found they ran mostly hand in hand with few discrepancies. On high acceleration, the desired was 24655 PSI and my actual was 25286 PSI, and then it went into limp mode after one hard acceleration at operating temperature. Any ideas on how to get this to stop? Does the PSI have to be lower? If so how or are the parameters to tight to allow it to operate? Thanks in advance
Those numbers show about a 2.5% deviation & the factory setting for high rail pressure deviation is 3%. so the ECM must be seeing above 3% at some point. If you can find someone with the Ford IDS diagnostic software they should be able to set that parameter higher to stop the P0088 from setting. With the old H&S tuner & their MCC program that parameter is accessible.
That's kinda what I thought but the dealer wants to do a fuel system rebuild instead so I'll have to find someone to do that for me. The code just popped in the OBDII as well about and hour ago, so would that still be the problem since it's 2 codes, one in the PCM and one in OBDII?
It's popping the code in the PCM and that puts it into limp mode but you don't necessarily get a check engine light until it is confirmed by the OBD2
