:dunno:I bought a new 2010 superduty 2 years ago. At 2000 miles I did a dpf, cat, egr cooler delete with a H&S xrt programer. now at 40,000 miles i have an issue where the truck defuels if i sit at idle to long. I can drive it all day long hauling 30k and it wont defuel but as soon as I sit at a stop light or even at the drive through window at mcdonalds it will defuel to stock. I,ve taken it to Ford, local, repair shops, and even Diesel Dr. Here in wisconsin. nobody so far can tell me whats going on. If anyone close by wants to give it a try I will pay you for your time. I do have a cheap matco scan tool if you want me to look at some pids or diesel dr has a really nice snap on scan tool that can look at anything the dealer can I think. I've even contacted H&S and they had no idea whats going on. No ses light and I can get it to work again by just turning the key off and back on again real quick.:dunno::confused::doh:

My answer is not going to help you....However, I had the same problem with my 2003 Dodge 5.9 Cummins. I spent a lot of money and drove out of state twice to VERY knowledgable Diesel techs and I never got it fixed. I ended up putting the truck back to stock and trading it on my 2010 6.4. Good luck!

Loss of power or reduction in power levels from tunner but H&S swears my tunner is not capable of this.

the original XRT cycles the EGR at idle. Is it possible that you've got a sticking EGR and the XRT has blocked the DTC? :confused:

looking at PIDS with delete tuning loaded is tricky because a lot of times they'll block or modify the signals to fool the ECM.

Have you tried reloading the tuner? Are you running the latest software version? I realize they haven't updated the original XRT in a LONG time, but it's worth making sure you're on the last version

sticking egr is possible but i removed the coolers so if it is sticking its not from heat or carbon build up but it is possible. and yes Ive reloaded the tunner many times. My scan tool only shows 2 pids for the egr what exactly should I look for?

where are you located? If you're anywhere near Alvin, TX we could load my mini maxx to the truck and see if it still does it.

nope South West Wisconsin but I still appreciate the help. Regardless of the outcome I thank you for trying to help me figure it out. Ill go out to the truck with my scan tool and look at the egr pids quick.

command egr % 45.1 egr error %-100 now one time I saw the error % go up to +30 but I didnt see what the command was at and fuel pressure was 5300 to 5600 at idle and up to 28000 empty floored up to 80mph and one other thing on my scan tool showed warm up dtc clr 2 what is this. when I checked it before i drove it was at 1 after i drove it then went to 2.

Did you remove the intake elbow that has the egr valve in it?

If your problem is a sticking egr valve a flo pro intake elbow will fix your problem.

what about just unpluging it then and make a plate for the hole when i take it out. just for now to see if the problem goes away will that throw the check engine light.

ok I went out and unpluged the egr and now it acts like its detuned all the time. almost stock even though its on the high setting no smoke no quick power.

ok just pluged in egr and drove lots of power little smoke and go baby go. so I brought it back and was going to try to clean egr after remove ing 3 torxs bit bolts it still wont come out?

THe egr valve is almost impossible to remove on the 6.4 even with the tool ford has. You are either going to have to put an aftermarket intake elbow on it or replace the factory elbow with the new egr valve installed.

ok I found out online H&S XRT does allow unplug of egr however when i unplug the egr it defuels all the time. any ideas?
