Hey guys, im out havin a bit.of a 4b with my mates, was trying this smal step up, basically the front wheels wanted to go left and I needed them to stay straight, so I gave it another go, and tried to hold the steering wheel straight wheb trying the stepup, heard a small snap noise and.now I have.no steering, steering wheel can fully turn but wheels stay straight, theres no broken shafts or draglinks, and theres.no oil leaking, the steering shaft.moves to.the powersteering box, but nothing moving out of the powersteering box, anyone know what it could be, have a feeling ive ****ed the psteer box, but you guys mighy know of somthing small it could be, any help appreciated :(

Sounds like internals in the steering box.

Sector shaft snapped
Is this a common thing, and how hard is it to fix, I have got the truck home and have the p/steer box out

Though I wouldn't say it is common, it does happen on occasion. You need to replace the entire steering gear box. As you are Down Under, you probably don't have the selections for replacement as here on the other side of the Pacific.

If you are purchasing from USA, Redhead offers a very nice unit. If you want to really limit this issue from occuring again, a hydraulic assist steering ram is advised.

Cheers for the help mate, i needed the truck back on the road ASAP so had to buy a new box local from a Fseries specialist, luckly he had heard and seen this problem a few times before and rebuild stronger boxes, so will see what happens, cost alot more then buyin from the state but you gotta do what you gotta do haha, thanks for the help
