I bought a 08 F-250 with the 6.4 and was in the process of doing my first oil change. I pulled open the filter and a small piece of something flew out and bounced into the compartment. I fished it out and then looked down into the place where the filter goes and there is a spring laying in the bottom. The black plastic piece that popped out looks to be broken. I have no idea what the pieces are or where they go. Can anyone help me identify them? I put in a penny for scale.

That is part of your oil filter housing return tube.....and it needs to be replace before you run the truck.
