Ok, this might be a long one....
Truck is an 01 psd 140k on it, 4" turbo back exhaust, intake, and egde juice with att. 35"s, stock gearing.

My pedistal orings have been leaking for a while, and I have not cared to do it. I left a light last week and got on it a little, nothing unusual. Went a bit, and returned to normal driving. About a mile down the road it starting acting funny, like it was missing a bank of cylinders. I pulled off, and reved while looking at the exhaust-white smoke. It is fine at idle.

I got towed home and scanned it with autometric. Got my usual ICP codes(from the programmer) and backpressure, and cps(i just replaced it 5 months ago!)

So I figured it is a good time to do the orings....got under it and saw i had an uppipe leak too. So, i replaced the pedistal orings, rebuilt the turbo, gutted the epv, wired the valve open put new chevy gaskets on the uppipes and put it all back in. Oh, what fun that all was. Truck is quieter, but still misses and white smoke. While poking around under the hood I bumped something behind the fuel bowl area and the truck died right away. Ran another scan, just the ghost epv code.

EDIT-my edge showed .4 boost max, even at 2k rpm

I tried to start it, and it was dead, 10volts on the gauge. I charged both batteries.

I had to travel for 3 days, go out this am and it wont start, 10 volts on the gauge, I check the batteries, and they are both around 12.35 volts.

I really don't have the money for the stealership right now, and I need it fixed. I can rebuild engines for christ sakes, but am at a loss now. Anyone near SW raleigh that can help?

Will it crank now? Can you buzz test the injectors with your scanner?
I just had a missing prob on my 01 it turned out to be the under valve cover harnesses and vc gaskets. :dunno:
Just checked it again; buzz test came back ok; and no surprise, it threw a low boost code. I have both batteries out now, gonna take them to be checked. I know low voltage can cause all kinds of goofy-ness so I can rule them out that way.
Ok, I put one battery back in, fully charged. Truck started right up and ran fine!

BUT-I am showing about 2.7 max boost, that is at 3,300 rpm.

I confirmed that with my autometric. right about 17.5 psi max. manifold pressure.
I got under the truck while my helper help rpm at 2k, i did not see, nor feel any exhaust leaks, and the truck is quieter now than before i messes with it.

So, what could cause that kind of boost loss? And yes, I felt around all the boots first.
You do know the truck won't build any boost by just sitting there and reving up the engine, right? I would check the UVC harness, the fact that you hit something behind the fuel bowl and the truck died would have me searching that area.
Good Luck

will only build boost under load, correct......

DOH!

As soon as I read that I realized, "ya you dummy, no load!"

It appears the wires for my fuel bowl heater have worn and when bumped they short, taking the pcm down I guess. Fixed them.

I drove it last night, according to my edge, boosted to about 20psi max boost, so I am right where a stock should be!!

YAY ME!
Sounds like you got it!:thumb::thumb::thumb:
