Ok, there may be a post on this subject already, but I came across a post where a member was attempting to depict how to go about doing head gaskets/studs without pulling the cab and was scared away by another member who is a Ford technician. I am in the process of doing this right now and it is relatively easy to do. Now I know It may be in the Ford manual to not pull the cab, but if there is any interest at all, reply to this post and I will post step by step pics as to how to do this. Here is a pic showing how much room it gives you on the pass. side. Again, If another post has already covered this in full please let me know. If not, show some interest and I will post for those of you who are curious.:thumb:

I'd be interested in pictures of the hard/awkward tasks as well as how many of the "special" tools that were really required v/s just nice to have.

Ok guys, I will post pics and commentary as I go. As far as special tools, none were needed so far.:burnout

Why would Ford do it if its not needed?
When torquing any fastener to the proper torque, I was taught to carry this out in one sweeping motion (not to stop in the middle of the step). With the 6.0L head bolt torque specs. of 65 ft.-lbs., then 85 ft.-lbs., then THREE sequences of 90 degree turns, I can't conceive how this would be possible with the cab in the way. Never mind that being bent over a tall truck fender can't be too good for one's back. Just my :twocents:
