When I try to start my 2000 Excursion it sounds like the batteries are low. It turns over a little slow and hesitates and then starts and runs fine. The batteries are good and so is the starter and alternator. The air filter is a little dirty and will be changed tomorrow. Any ideas of what it could be? Thanks in advance!

do you have any white smoke coming out of the tail pipe on startup? this could mean bad glow plug relay or glow plugs.
my truck was starting hard because of a bad icp sensor. this is located to the right of the fuel bowl in the head. pull the sensor connector out and if theres oil in it its time for a new icp.
best thing would be to get the codes read and see if there is any obvious problems related the the codes.

also it it time for an oil change?

How do you know the batteries are good? Have them tested individually by a shop that has a large battery load tester, not one of those little 100A ones you can borrow from the auto parts store.

In my case, one battery had a dead cell. The truck still started, but didn't crank over with authority.
