I recently purchased my first diesel. 2003 6.0L Excursion EB 4x4.

My serpentine belt was intact but split of ½ the width. Inspection finds that my main harmonic balancer pulley is forward towards the radiator almost 1" making it out of aligned with all other pulleys and idlers.

Since the vehicle is new to me, I don't have any idea what the issue is. Please help.

you will want a new one since the outer is drilled for balance

when yours moved it may have spun as well changing the balance

ZMann,

Thanks for the reply. I think that I may finally get it.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The item I'm calling the "harmonic balancer" is actually made of two pieces.:
1. Harmonic Blancer (hub)
2. Pulley

The pulley is pressed on the the Harmonic Balancer. My problem is that the pulley is walking out and potentially has slipped which may affect the balance.

So when I purchase a new factory Harmonic Blancer (below) this will fix my problem.
Ford 3C3Z-6312-CA - PULLEY - CRANKSHAFT

Am I on the right track?

I can't vouch for the part # on a 03 but the rest is spot on

I would hit up one of our two ford dealers they will get the right Harmonic Balancer if you giv them a vin and they are cheaper than most dealer

should be about 150.00?
