New to this sight and also new to diesels. I bought a 2008 with a 6.4 a coulpe months ago. I did the egr delete and the dpf delete. also ran a 4'' stainless from turbo back with no muffler and tuned it with the mini maxx. The power is incredible but even just driving around and hardly ever in town from a stop and go, im only getting about 13 mpg. does any one have any ideas on better mpg? is there a custom tune i can use? also has afe intake

The best I've gotten has been 14 mpg, I hear people saying they're getting 18,19 and even in the mid 20s, I have to see it to believe it.

Haha, I know. When I decided to delete I was so pumped, I'm gonna save so much money on fuel. Everyone was claiming 20mpgs but then I did it and gained like 2-3 so that's better than nothing but I was disappointed. A lot of people reset their lie o meter and go down hill where it shows 27 mpg and that's what they claim. I have reset my dash mpg at the beginning of the fill up a few times and by the time I'm nearing the low fuel it's averaged out at about 13.3 mpg which is almost exactly what I get. I must have got the honest 6.4:D

consistently getting 16.25mpg a tank with 35/65 city/hwy driving in 100* heat. low boost set on 0 and drive like a grandpa. i can count the number of times ive stood on the pedal since ownership. all hand calc. cetane boost in every tank. in the grand scheme of things 16 mpg is nothing to brag about lol. those who get 18+ i think its possible with the right gearing and all other variables lined up.

for those who get the lower end of mpgs while tuned i just assume theyre heavier on the throttle and cruise at higher rpms.

In town I get 13-14 and hwy its usually 17-18. I have gotten as much as 19.5 and as little as 16.5 on the hwy. Wind and terrain play a big part. These rigs just arent mileage getters.

Diesels get better mileage in the hotter tunes as long as you stay off the skinny pedal. Ease into everything. Plan ahead and act like there is an egg under your throttle and break pedals. Just don't break the egg.

wild 250 and 0 low fuel boost seems to run the best for my truck right now in the summer. the fun of it is trying different settings and seeing what you prefer. like country said just take it easy on the throttle.

How much difference does running the low boost fuel at zero make versus the default(2)? I've been running mine on the HD300/ mild. Mileage went up about 3-3.5 mpg over stock. Averaging just under 14 now.

After countless hours of research my mechanic has found out why my truck won't make more than 14mpg.
I happen to have a 6.5 1/2 engine.....

Yup I only get 13/14, and I'm running the H&S 250 tune with level 3 low boost fueling. I don't drive that easy though. That being said I have never gotten better than 16/17 hwy no matter how nice I drive it.
Some guy I talked to swore he got better mileage running the exact same tuning but with 4.10's. I have 3.73's.

Now you need to calculate it by hand. The LOM is notoriously inaccurate and gives false readings as your picture shows.
