It mounts to the two screws holding the radio on the right.

Seems to completely block and make the radio inoperable. Am I missing something here? What is the purpose of the ipad?

I am sorry I should have explained why I use the iPad in front of my radio. I also installed Belkin air cast which is a blue tooth adapter for the stock radio giving me full blue tooth capability. So I control the volume of the radio on my steering and I can have pandora or slacker radio playing on my ipad which is connected to my factory radio via bluetooth. I love playing pandora in my truck. You do not have to use pandora you can use any other internet radio...and I glance at my emails from time to time :thumb:
