Looking for shop recommendations to have head gaskets/studs done for an 04 6.0. Mine head gaskets aren't blown but I'm thinking about studding it for the peace of mind. I've had some work (wheel bearings, gen maintenance) done at Spears automotive in Cedar Crest. So far I've had good luck with them but haven't talked to them about head studs yet.

Thanks for any recommendations.

Spears was affraid of mine when I asked about studs and injectors.
I recommend AGAINST Central Motive off Commanche.
Powerstroke on San Antonio did a good job but was $$$$ (1800 for the STC fitting-dealer paid)
Check with GoldenStroker in the other NM threads, he was going to do mine, he''s a tech at another shop. Otherwise, get in line and We'll do yours after mine and sharky's

If you already got it done, mind sharing who did it?

I'll give statkus a call.

Any other ideas? I hit up Evolved but I guess hes busy or not here anymore.
I have to get the motor rebuilt and tax time is perfect. If anyone knows a vacant shop with a lift that I can rent for a month I'll take that route better!

Just an FYI - I've been told the guy at American Diesel came from Central Motive. I personally don't know, just passing on the info I was told.

Scott - did you ever get the head studs done?

Just for the record, I don't know that all the Central Motive Mechs were bad or not.
My personal experience was 4 years ago. I took my truck in with a "miss" for diagnostic.
They charged me $250 to "scan" it and managed to tell me it was the EGR. The EGR had been deleted off that truck about 3 months before the scan, anyone looking under the hood could have seen that. I never did nail down the exact culprit but I did injectors, RR fuel lines and switched to an SCT and the issue went away. Elite said I had 2 bad cores when they went in so I am guessing that's what it was.
