Hello everyone my dad has a 01 7.3 and it turns over by its self with no key in ignition it does have a viper alarm it does not have the auto start feature and also has been disconnected any help guy would be appreciated thank you
My guess is there maybe an auto start feature on that viper system, and it is connected through the alarm, and it has a temperature start feature or timer feature that is doing it, or it’s just fouled up. Careful under the hood on that thing. Don’t trust the little plunger switch they use to come with.
I had one of those 20+ years ago when they originally came out, on a car. The thing was set to start automatically at -17c to run it for a few minutes once in awhile. I can’t remember exactly the settings. I think it had a clock timer too if you programmed it.
Long story short, it got fouled up somehow, the car was parked for a few days while I was away, and started it non stop, until it ran out of gas, then killed the battery... I’m glad it was parked outside.
Remove the alarm completely and see what happens. My 2c. Good luck with it.
