Hello fellow veggie enthusiasts

I've been thinking about doing this conversion for quite a while now but have only really started planning it over the last few months. My daily driver is a 85 Mercedes 300D that uses a two tank system. I bought this converted so didn't get to learn by doing but my friend who sold it to me has taught me quite a bit about WVO and about diesel Mercedes as well. I have a 78 I'm restoring now and will likely have two more soon to use for parts.

But I digress. I've seen a couple conversion diagrams here and around other forums. There are a lot of ways to do this conversion and make it work. One thing I want to prioritize is the ability to quickly purge WVO from the head. My Mercedes doesn't have a purge and I'm always wondering if I flipped the switch too late. I don't want this anxiety with the PSD and certainly don't want to do any damage to my beloved truck. The system I've seen that I think I like the most has diesel entering at one side of the heads and WVO at the other, allowing the diesel to push WVO out of the heads when the switch is flipped. From my understanding, this is how the vegistroke system works. What I don't understand about this system is how to regulate fuel pressure and where to put the return. In this system it seems that the FPR needs to be before the heads for each fuel type (unlike the deadhead where FPR is after heads?) Also, would the return line be at the FPR?

I also plan to change over to an electronic fuel pump/aftermarket filters for the diesel side of things. Initially I will use the rear tank for WVO, adding another tank later. The way I currently envision doing the conversion I will no longer need the stock 6 port fuel selector as the two fuel systems will be entirely separate (except for some mixing in the heads and when the WVO purges). So far I've only purchased an FPHE but I'll be ordering the parts for the diesel side of the things in the coming days. As for WVO parts, I already have some nice raycor filters. I'll need a lift pump. I bought a FPHE. I'm not sure which pressure regulator to get but I need to settle on a design before purchasing those.

Thanks for your thoughts and comments. Hopefully with a little more information and knowledge I'll get a diagram drawn up soon and get the conversion underway.

First draft.

Thoughts?

First step is to upgrade to electric pump, aftermarket filters, install diesel FPR, which will involve closing the heads at one end for now, and make sure it's running well with those changes. I'll remove the stock tank selector. Front tank will be 100% diesel.
