Mine did it too and it got so bad that I ended up snapping it right off because I had to push so much extra to put it into park. I ended up getting a new cylinder from ford that goes down the column to the firewall, and I can't remember how much it was I just threw the receipt away it was either $60 or $160.
There is an adjustment you can do. You can adjust it at the transmission. Or you may have to adjust it under the dash on the column.
I have the info on how to do this adjustment but it is not in front of me right now. But if you get a Chiltons Manual it is in there and explains in details with pictures on how to adjust the gear selector.
