I have an 01 F-250 6spd with 07 Axles (D60 Coil-over conversion), KC Turbo, Stage 1.5 injectors, TS chip, 5" exhaust, 3" lift, Airbags, SBC Clutch, and whole crapload of other little things. I'm Running 35s and I tow a 15K lb Toy hauler.

The problem with the stock 3.73s is that you have to use the granny gear to start from a light but then shift before you hit about 14mph or you'll run out of rpm, and then 6th gear is only good for about 78-116mph at 2000-3000rpm, At freeway speeds it's ok if you can stay above 75-80 in 6th but if your on a 65 mph highway you're constantly shifting between 5th and 6th. I never need, or want, to go more than 100mph in this truck. So if I re-gear to 4.10s then 6th gear would be 70-106mph, and with 4.30s would be 67-101mph. Cruising at 85 would 2400 or 2600rpm. I'm still thinking but I'm leaning toward 4.30s and I'll probably throw a trueurac in the rear while I'm at it.

Anybody running 4.10s or 4.30s??

It's a manual transmission. Keep the gearing as is and shift to the proper gear for the situation. 6th gear asap when not towing and then select what gear you want based on towing, speed, and grade.

Empty I'm in 6th gear as low as 40mph on level ground just above idle....best fuel economy when not towing.

FWIW, my '01 has 3.73 gears, stock tires and an auto (4R100). When towing my 12K 5er, I have to push the OD button on the shifter to take the truck out of overdrive at times when I'm going up slight uphill on the freeway and back into OD when it's flat or down slope. On hills, I'll take it out of overdrive to keep RPMs up and EGTs down. The obvious difference is I push a button, you have to actually shift.

Im not really that concerned with mpg, it's a fortune to run it as it is and 1or 2 mpg isn't gonna change that. Besides, I'm made of money, jk!! I'm more concerned with usable power, the f350 duallys came with 4.10s from the factory. i regeared my Toyota Tacoma with a 5spd auto from 3.73s to 4.88s and it's now a powerhouse and I can still cruise at 90 at only 2500rpm, different animal I know but just an example.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I live in western Colorado. Mucho hills!!!

Mine tows great with a ZF6 3.73s and 35s, it's the perfect combo, wouldn't want 4.10 or 4.30s.

I would get rid of the TS chip and get a Hydra with better tunes on it before you regear. If you need to be running 2K rpm or more to make power with that setup then that is a tuning issue. With my setup and tuning I have plenty of power to tow in the 1600-2000 RPM range.

My Hydra Tuner on 65hp Daily Driver and 3.73 gears, gives me all the torque I need to pull 9k trailer over 11,000 ft high passes.

actually though, PHP recommends to use the 65hp Towing tune for 8-10k trailers.

Ok guys, thanks for your input but I know very well how my truck pulls with 3.73s, the question was is there anyone that's running 4.10 or 4.30s??
Try reading the room my man, these guys know their stuff.

I am curious, how much does the truck and trailer weigh fully loaded? (I would weigh them separately)
How many miles are on this 7.3?
What trucks are your friends driving that you are trying to keep up with?
