When I was wiring a lift gate on a 2011 Ford 7.3 powerstroke I hit the positive battery terminal with the ground cable and took out the alternator fusible link. I can't find the link because its buried somewhere in the harness. The wire goes from the alternator down below the engine up the other side to the 250 amp breaker next to the passenger side battery of the truck. The question is can I put a fusible link made from 20gauge fusible link wire from the drivers side battery to the alternator which is only a foot away or does it have to come from the breaker? The schematic calls for a 20 gauge link. The truck is still charging at 14.5 volts but the battery light comes on after 20 seconds after start up but still charging. I put a jumper from the battery to the alternator and the light goes out. What is the best way to repair it.
