Fumoto Oil Drain Valve

I know some guys here have used them and highly recommend them. I am ordering one for my 2016 and would like to hear if I should order the straight nipple or the one with with 90 degree elbow. Do you attach a drain hose? Did you need to purchase the extension?

Thanks

I have the F106S pointed straight down. I drain it straight into a 5 gallon race fuel can without a hose. That's just because it's convenient though. If I went straight out I would use a hose for sure.

How are you pointing it straight down when it comes out the side?

Here are the 2 I am looking at.

I have a Fumoto on our Jeep. Can't say I really like it.
I thought it would be better for taking to the quick lubes so they didn't strip the drain plug. But they lose the clip for the Fumoto instead.

I hate being to the point that I no longer do my own maintenance.
It's just not doable anymore.

Out of those two, I would recommend the 90° one. You won't need a hose. Especially if you drain into a 5 gal bucket like most do.
I went with the 106SX and not the originally posted model. Sorry about that head scratcher! Lol!! It swivels 360° and i wanted to be sure it pointed straight down.

Get the 90* and a foot of Tygon to direct the flow into empty jugs.

On the 6.7's, how much oil does the Fumoto block from coming out the drain?

With the Jeep 2.8 holding so little oil in stock configuration, it's a decent percentage. - on the Jeeps the Fumoto threads in deeper than the pan and blocks a certain amount of oil from coming out the drain hole
Been running one since 2016. Such a quality of life improver.

Not sure if the 6.7 is the same as the 6.0 but, I had to cut the 90 completely off to fit behind the starter.

Nope wide open on the 6.7

That’s for coolant not oil. And I installed my 90 just fine behind the starter and I have a hose connected to it to drain it into buckets. Both sides. I left the oil drain valve off for this oil change and will install it on the next one. I had a reason at the time for not installing it but damn if I can remember what it was. Getting old isn’t for the weak.

Ya, maybe mine is failing as well.

I was curious about this myself so I checked. After draining my oil to a drip, I pulled the valve. Got a whopping 4oz when it returned to a drip. How much of that was oil still draining off the engine internals? Dunno. I always drain after driving for a bit to warm the oil so maybe some.
It's not a worry if one does regular OCIs. IIRC there is another quart or 2 hiding in the 6.7 anyway.

I'm running the straight nipple on my 14. I was concerned the 90* wouldn't be aimed down when it was tight. The valve is smaller and doesn't allow as much oil flow as removing the plug so using the straight design isn't bad. I don't use a hose since it comes out at a lower volume. HIghly recommended.

I have the 90 degree that points down. I like that one, less oil blowing when it’s windy.
