hey i have a 2002 ford powerstroke :icon_ford: and i have been having problems with my fuel sensor inside my fuel tank, or that is what the dealership told me. i figured this out when i was below a half tank a little bit and it just shut down on me and wouldnt re-fire. so i called my dad and he came and towed us back to the house with his truck and we replaced the filters in it and it still wouldnt fire. so we refueled it and that made it fire. anybody have any idea of what that could be? the dealership said that no codes were thrown so were not sure right now. :(

What do you mean you 'refueled it'?

You filled it with fuel I assume...How much did it take? were you out and your sender is shot? How many miles were on that tank of fuel when this happened?

yeah i filled it up with fuel. i usually get around like 398 400 on a tank of fuel and it was at like 185 or so give or take a few it was right undre a half tank and it just stalled on me. its done it like 3 times where we couldnt make it to gas station to fill it up. its becoming a pain in the butt :dunno::confused::banging:

Fuel

If you only had a 1/2 tank and it stalled I would lean towards a fuel line in the tank sucking air. The only thing the electrical part of the sender does is run the gauge. If the truck runs perfect on a full tank I dont belive your going to have any mechanical issues. Fuel related concerns very rarely ever set any kind of code. Look for an air leak.

alright. ill have to get that checked out. because its getting to be a pain and now that i dont have my 110gallon aux tank in the back we are worried about it more. but thats a reasonable suggestion and thank you ive been waiting for a reply on that :woot::woot::woot::icon_ford::grd::grd:

This would be a great time to do the intank and prepump fuel system mods. It cost me about $30 to do and made my fuel system perform much better plus gives me insurance against another bad load of fuel. Made the truck run much quieter and will be a cheap and good way for you to eliminate any intank problems. Here are some pics with comments attached of when I did mine.
