Hey guys, I know you know this one. My driveway is on an incline and when I park my truck facing forward I get a fuel leak/stain on my driveway, however if I back it in I don't. I climbed up on top of the engine and noticed fuel in the engine valley and the bowl/ filter is not leaking. From what i can see it looks like it's running down the back of the block when I'm pulled in forward. Any common problems associated with this or is there an o-ring kit I need to get and start tearing into all the fuel lines up on top? thanks

Start with the 3 fuel lines under the bowl, they are known for drying up and cracking from old age

There is a weep hole in the back of the valley that is why it drains out when you pull in. When you can let the truck sit for a day or two, park it level, start out by getting a rag and gently push it down to the valley to soak up the fuel (like on a Friday night if it is your daily driver). The 2 best places are right in front of the fuel bowl and under the fuel pump. I use coat hanger to push the rag down there.

Let it dry out overnight, then run the engine for a minute or two and check where new fuel has leaked from. An inspection mirror helps as does a good flashlight and something comfy on top of the radiator to lean over on.

The bottom line though is that what 351Fifty says is probably right but to get to the one from the bootom of the bowl to the fuel pump you need to pull the entire bowl and if you pull the entire bowl you might as well rebuild it with all new o-rings and hoses.

Or you can just go to efuel.

Thanks guys. I will take a look at that when I get home in a couple weeks. I am working out of state right now. What kind of time does it take to remove the fuel bowl, re-seal and re-install? Any tricks I need to be aware of?

like said check the hoses , not sure on the time it takes to do the fuel bowl , the engine sits lower in the back then in the front , so backing into your driveway the fuel is rushing towards the front of the truck but with no where to go , park it regular and it rushes downward to the hole

I said the hell with it and ordered every seal, o-ring, hose and a new mechanical pump since I am going to remove the fuel bowl anyways, I just figured I would go ahead and re-seal everything and install a new pump being that that one has 136,000 miles on it. I ordered everything from dieselorings.com and highly recommend them as that guy wasabsolutely great to deal with.

I also got a new CPS as well, i needed a a spare anyways. I figured I would install this new one and keep the old for a spare.

Mine was doing the same thing with the fuel leak. I replaced the entire fuel bowl (mainly b/c the heater was shot, and the wires were all cracked and spliced together) Also replaced all the hoses, but still have a fuel leak. I believe it's the fuel pump leaking...So on to replace that next.

Not sure where you picked up your CPS, but I recommend getting it from Ford direct. I got two from NAPA and both were crap out of the box!! Just sayin'.

About the CPS.... I bought it from dieselorings.com It is Ford OEM dark blue with the purple orings.

As far as the fuel leak you still have..... Bob w/ diesel orings told me that there is a wheephole on the passenger side of the mechanical pump which could have diesel leaking and also the gasket for the mechanical pump. He said the gasket on the original pumps can leak due to the material it was made out of coming into contact with the new low sulfer diesel fuel.
