My 2000 f250's fuel gauge is starting to act up. When I turn the key on it goes to full. If I cycle the key it will show 1/2 tank which might be correct. Once I start the truck it goes back to full and will move to 3/4 and back up while driving. Any ideas??

I have heard a old wise tale ( lol) of the float sticking. Sometimes you can beat the bottom of the tank with a rubber mallet and unstick it.

It must of been the float because it started working fine

About a year ago, mine started making fuel while on a long trip. The further I drove, the more fuel the gauge showed. On the trip home, it started working fine. Haven't had a problem since.
