The plastic can swell up. You will likely have to replace it. I think NAPA sells a filter with a new plastic cover. I have used B100 for over two years and gave up on the ford filter because of similar problems. I use a metal filter for a Cummins.
fix obs

spray W-d under the cap all the way.around and let out pressure,by pushing that valve stem thats on the side of bowl. tap the cap alittle with rubber hamer.then twist off.it should work? if you mess up cap.buy the afe new filter and it comes with cap.
ya i allready have a new cap and filter just cant get the old ones off so i'll try this tonight!!!

pb didnt do a thing .... i need to re weld the steel tool i made because it pretty much twisted tiself arround when i was trying to undo the cap. so its pretty dam well stuck. what should i do any other suggestions?
i think i'm goin to the auto shop down the highway tmw mornin to see if i can just borrow their tool... i gota get up early ne ways to make me a batch of bio !!!!
I quite frequently just use a very large pair of channel lock pliers on the cap. If you're replacing the cap, you shouldn't have to worry about damage to the cap.
