I've heard and read that some people use it every other tank or so and some never use it at all. Someone said it bumps up the mpg's like 1.5... not sure though. Hopefully someone with more knowledge on the subject will chime in.
I have used Diesel Kleen, Lucas, Sea Foam and others. Now I use Amsoil's Cetane Boost and Diesel Additive. I don't use it every tank full or even every other tank full. My truck tells me when it needs a shot! I can hear the difference. In fact, I think I'll doctor my tank before I head out to work this morning. I heard it asking me for help yesterday. :hehe:
In the winter when I buy fuel down south and head north or if my truck will be sitting long enough for the weather to change I will add some anti gel. If I notice low mpg after a fill up I will add some additive to boost cetane. Howes is highly available and I normally buy their products as needed.
Normally I don't use anything except straight ULSD from shell stations when available.
i run diesel kleen at 1 ounce per gallon of fuel at every fill up. always have and never missed it. not ever. ask FCDP what my engine looked like when we worked on it. it looked like it had never been run. this stuff is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i use john deere in every tank, they offer summer & winter additives, summer add is 4 ozs per 26 gal. formulated for them by stanadyne, use a cetane improver that can be easilly obtained and use it consistently
