I've been following Sam Miller's write-up on changing the fuel pump in my '95. When I pulled the FPR away from the canister I noticed the small filter on FPR was dirty. I pulled out the filter assemble (with its two o-rings) and believe I may have lost a spring that holds the small ball in place. Does anyone know if there is supposed to be a small spring? My Ford parts dealer says the only repair kit for the FPR costs about $250. Any ideas. I don't want to put it together until I make sure this check valve is correct. -Charlie

Update -- I bought a used FPR at salvage yard and disassembled it ---- NO SPRING. So I put the original back together reinstalled everything and the engine runs great.
