Just got my new Toyo Open Country M/Ts installed this weekend and the shop was telling me my rear pads are pretty thin. Gonna order some soon and replace them. Just curious if anyone has a write up on this procedure, or is it just simply remove tire, unbolt caliper, take old pads out and slide new pads in??

Also, do you guys replace the rotors at the same time?

I like to replace rotors and honestly the ones I have seen come from Autozone seem nice
I will be trying them ,, also get the slide pin lubed

pretty self explanatory to replace, i would use ford oem brakes and rotors. they seem to last very long and like he said, i would do rotors too.

I did mine recently with OEM rotors and NAPA premium pads. I have a habit of doing the rotors when the pads go. I spent a good part of a Saturday doing the job....pulled the giude pins out, removed all old grease and replaced it. I don't know how different the newer models are, but I got the hardware kit with the napa pads and not with my front Hawk pads. I like to replace everything while I'm in there if I can....I would've done the calipers if I could've swung it...

Oh, my emergency brakes are no more. The backing plate completely rusted away and the guide pivot pins for the e brake shoes were gone.

most people I have talked to that switched with they stayed with OEM. I know I will I have over 100k on 37s and still plenty of life left

I'd stick with OEM pads on the truck.

As for Autozone rotors, they were the only ones (out of NAPA, O'Reilly, and Advanced) that had the correct rotors for my Cobra. Everyone else had either non-directional vanes or the same rotor used for both sides. Of course I could've bought some Brembos or more Ford ones, but I decided to give the Autozone ones a try.

Autozone had the OEM directional vanes and they have held up pretty well on my Cobra which has very aggressive pads on it and sees AX days which will boil the brake fluid.

That being said, avoid Autozone pads (and everyone of the parts stores pads... well, I haven't tried NAPA OEM-like pads yet) like the plague. The first time I used them on the Cobra (while I waited for new Hawks to arrive) I almost had a heart attack trying to brake from 60 in my "normal" distance. I must've traveled about 25% farther.

I replaced mine not too long ago and got the OEM pads. They seem to be the "best" pads. I got my rotors turned instead of buying new rotors since they could be turned.
