i have a 00 f250 i would like to increase my hp but not completly kill my pocket book really just looking for ideas what some people have done what worked the best i also want to rebulid my turbo cant afford a new banks was wondering who makes the best upgrade kit this is my first diesel ever want to see what worked best thanks

Get gauges first. Boost, EGT and trans temp if it's an auto. Ten I would look into a good intake. I use the diy 6673 intake and love it. Next would be a muffler delete or 4" turbo back. After that you could look into one of the site sponsors for a 6 pos chip. The chip is going to make the most difference but you need to have all the other stuff listed so you don't damage your motor.

thank u for your info when i bought my truck it did have a set of tripple guages and no muffler so i will look into the intake and chip.... the truck i bought did have 150k do u think it would be wize to rebuild the turbo.....what brand is diy

Diy is "do it yourself", there are plenty of threads oh here that can walk you threw several diy projects. Check your turbo wheel for play, it might not need a rebuild.

For my intake I used the NAPA part number 6673 air filter. I also got a section of 4" exhaust pipe from them. and used a 4" coupler.

I have 169k on mine and my turbo is fine. If you don't have any side to side play you should be good. The wheel may move in and out a little but thats ok. Even without the muffler the 3" exhaust was a bit restrictive for my taste. A 4" turbo back can be had for around 250 shipped. It's a wise choice imho. The better these truck can breath the lower your EGTs will be.

DIY = Do It Yourself

Search around and you will find a good write up on how to build and install one. All it takes for late 99+ is a 3" iece of 4" exhaust tubing, bout 30 min of your time and your done.

I think your only reason to rebuild your turbo is if its having problems or you have play in your compressor wheel. Otherwise run it till you have issues, no point in fixing parts that aint broke.

I agree with the 6637. Worked great for me I followed the advice here. first intake then I went exhaust, gauges (isspro) and the tw tuner(just installed on Friday) I'm very happy with my stock 2001 4x4

I did exhaust first so that it will flow better. Then the intake, gauges, then chip

I will warn you once you get the mod bug it is hard to shed off.

I started with exhaust and intake now I'm looking at injectors, t500 oil pump and a bigger turbo

Everyone here will tell u you need an exhaust intake and chip but just remember you don't need to do it all at once .

^How big of injectors and turbo? Your stock 17* has plenty of push for stage 1's and hybrids, and sometimes stage II's....

I have a e99 so 15 pump. It will push the stage ones but with 200k I was gunna get it rebuild to a t500

ah yes didn't catch that. it will push stage 1's, yes. I'd run an AE scan and check for hpop health before you decide to rip it out.
