Well after seeing Nate's truck all tore apart and a sweet turbo going in I decided I waited long enough. Went home got started around 8:30 and had her runing around 11:30.

Install went great, took our time and learned alot about the different components on the motor. Only snag was the AFe intake, the box is just so big that we had no other choice but to take her out along with the coolant bottle, just made things easier to work around.

I am very pleased with the end result. Once the truck warms up the turbo whistles pretty good at a stand still but once you touch the pedal sounds like a jet plane. I am so glad I went the 03 route.

Here are a few pictures I took during the install, nothing fancy, just some to show ya what we were working with.

Yea I know. I was hoping to get her done there at the shop on Saturday but I didn't want to interupt Nate's install, those guys were rolling right along pretty good.

nice job

Thanks man. Not bad for a couple of people that have never worked on a Powerstroke before lol.

3 hours for someone whos never touched a turbo swap? Not bad, not bad at all!:thumb:

I luckily had someone who's done a swap (Maintain, although he never did a 6.0 turbo till mine! :hehe:).

Yep! We were all down there at Matt's and watched how Nate's came off and then just remembered what we saw and went for it. We started by taking out the intake, then degass bottle, unbolted the clamps for the Y-Pipe and down pipe, losened up the downpipe, unbolted the three bolts that hold the turbo to the pedestal, wiggled her out, then the four for the actual pedestal and then went back in reverse order lol.

Well the main reason I did the swap was because I wanted the whistle the 03 6.0L turbo produces. It only has 10 blades on the exhaust side verse 12 on the 04s and 15 on the 05s. I was able to pick up 2-3lbs of boost and lowered my temps by about 100 degrees while cruising.

I will say that I seemed to pick up some low end along with a MUCH improved top end, especially after my lift and tires went on. It feels like I am runing just as fast as I was before the lift/tires.

For sure, only problem is I don't have a video camera:doh:

I'm glad I could be inspiration for such a great thing haha Looks awesome man! good install time too! I'm sure you're loving it!! :nate:
Like I said I felt guilty during your install, I had no idea how to do anything you all were doing but just from watching ya work I learned alot. I wish I would have stayed to see your truck up and runing though, must be something else.
