so 1600 is okay without melting pistons? I was worried i couldn't even endure a 1/4 mile run because of high EGTs.

I'm willing to bet it was a bit further than that. :wink[3]:I was somewhat immpressed with 85 mph in that 1/8 mile.... thats 700 feet?
The odometer went from .7 to .8 when i looked at it from start of run to end which is a 1/10 mile but considering human error i rounded up to 1/8 mile.I'm willing to bet it was a bit further than that. :wink[3]:
I'm willing to bet thats BS... your pistons will melt at 2k degrees. :wink[3]:On SHORT bursts, should be ok. Give it plenty of time to cool down after the run..
I bet I hit 2000-2500* today. But I was major pissed. Remember, do as I say, not as I do.
I actually stuffed 4 whole chickens in the tank for that run..... :hehe:Don't forget your running on fuel, not french fries.......
Ask Tony how fast I can peg a 1600* gauge.I'm willing to bet thats BS... your pistons will melt at 2k degrees. :wink[3]:
OK, I think there's a story in here somewhere. Wanna share? If you've posted it in another link, would you post the link here?On SHORT bursts, should be ok. Give it plenty of time to cool down after the run..
I bet I hit 2000-2500* today. But I was major pissed. Remember, do as I say, not as I do.
Realy? I would have never thunk it. I don't even know if my commander guage reads that high :dunno:Ask Tony how fast I can peg a 1600* gauge.
2k isn't that big of a deal. Heat soak is the killer. As long as you don't lose a cooling jet, you will be fine for the most part.
Also, ask Tony if he's ever hit 2k* in his truck. :look:
Russ, you say that entirely too much.....get out and live a little!"I'm living vicariously through y'all" :hehe:
Ewwww......"bumpin' uglies" has a new definition.
:hehe::hehe:I know you didnt melt anything...just ribbin ya.
I have not been comfortable with EGTs hitting over 1250 actually...i think this run at 1350 is the highest i have seen them and that made my azz pucker
note to self: clean that stain off the seat tomorrow.
Like Dirk said in short bursts its fine......you run into trouble when your towing or if you get the need to run cross country :nod:so 1600 is okay without melting pistons? I was worried i couldn't even endure a 1/4 mile run because of high EGTs.
Were you trying to break your truck? :hehe:On SHORT bursts, should be ok. Give it plenty of time to cool down after the run..
I bet I hit 2000-2500* today. But I was major pissed. Remember, do as I say, not as I do.
Its not a problem for me to hit 1600+ at the end of 1/4 mile run. Hell, I've heard Matt has it 2050 in his truck. So yes, short bursts of EGT's are ok, not exactly the best thing for your rig, but it is ok :thumb:Realy? I would have never thunk it. I don't even know if my commander guage reads that high :dunno:
If i ever get on the track with it, i guess i'll push it a little higher and see.
The kind of living some of y'all do could be hazardous to my health!Russ, you say that entirely too much.....get out and live a little!
:thumb::nod:The kind of living some of y'all do could be hazardous to my health!
Not to mention my bank account ...
:hehe:
