had the truck towed in this weekend and finally got to attempt to read the codes yesterday. well the scan tool would not read any codes. i dont think the pcm is putting out information like its suppose too. also when the key is turned foward it sounds like a constant ticking noise. i pulled one of the large fuses out and it stopped. i am thinking my pcm may be burnt up. the truck just died while getting on the highway and would not start.it cranks but will not start.. my question is how much is a new pcm and what else can i check if its not the pcm

Okay thats good. So are your batteries good? Are they fully charged?

what would cause the scan tool to not read any codes?

Depending on the scanner if it was one that will read diesel code could be a reason. Did the scanner link up in other words did it just tell you there was no codes or it didn't work at all. If it didn't work the fuse to the cigarette lighter powers up the OBDII port. Or you don't have any codes stored. All your battery connections are good and you have at least 10.5 volts to the pcm while cranking? If you do its possible its a cps.

You have a burn fuse feeding the OBD port first off...

If the PCM is bad it will light the SES light all the time.

alright..ill check all those things as soon as i get off work saturday if its not raining..thanks for the help . ill let yall know how everything turns out
