so we all love our 6.0's
sometimes its a love hate relationship but lets face it we wouldn't be here if these were't some of the best trucks ever built even if we do have to mod out some of the engineering failures that international and ford chose to argue over rather than fix...
so what is your favorite mod or mods you have done and why?

i will start off with giving BPD the honor of favorite mod, for the air to oil cooler...
8 years and i almost never even think about it.馃い because it just works weather i ignore it or not

Got to shout out to Charlie with this. I absolutely loved that KC Stage 2 turbo. Best thing I bought for that truck hands down. Man I miss it

Tuning for sure. One of the least expensive, and makes the biggest difference. Its needed for almost every other modification.

2nd would be injectors/turbos.

ARP Headstuds first since that allowed me to get into tuning and being able to just drive the truck without worrying lol.

I'll second the tuning also. The TSD tunes with that KC turbo made that truck just so damn much fun to drive.

Had a neighbor/friend of the family drive my truck home from the lake one weekend because he needed to go home and feed cattle while my family had 3 vehicles their for four people. The lake house is down one windy road that doesn't have much straight stretch on it. Told him be very gentle on the throttle since it was kind of rainy and the road had moisture if he wasn't careful the back end would pass him lol. He drives a Chevy gasser(6.0 coincidentally lol) and he told me after i picked it up at his house that my truck had way to much power hahaha.

I have an Escort radar detector because I have a SCT tuner because I have ARP studs. A logical progression I suppose...

as far as i am concerned natural progressions are absolutely allowed.
because some things are just package deals.

i am getting my ficm tuned as we speak by black powder performance which will work as a package deal with my sct tuner, vivians tuning, adrians stage 2 turbo...
it all works together so its kinda one strategy if you will :D

I only put 140 miles on the stock 6.0. practically a week after buying it, we took to see @toren302
it was a full build Toren did sooo..
After that 6.0 itself, the swap to the 6.7 starter.
The MIRRORS best thing we could have done!

I have a hard time really answering this question without listing everything but first and formost the engine Jared/KDD built. It has been a solid beast and I love it! As simple as these are, I love my RiffRaff boots and clamps because it sucks pulling a grade with 10k plus behind you and hear the sound of a boot blowing off. I was having that issue way too often before the RiffRaff boots and clamps. They have been solid and held the KC stage 2 well. I could go on and on but I don't like typing that much and no one really wants to read that much either, IMO.

Mine is the BPD air cooled oil cooler. Next would be getting the fifth wheel in so I could use the truck for what it was intended for, towing.

I think I have every dang upgrade possible LOL, but if I had to pick one that made the biggest impact to longevity it would be the BPD remote air cooler. Tied for second would be my KC stageII and KDD heads.

You think a KC Turbo extends longevity?

I have a turbo I decided to pressure test, and it leaked out the piston seals. Actually contacted Charlie, and he said he does not know if that鈥檚 normal because he鈥檚 never capped a turbo at the inlet and outlet, pressurized it. It鈥檚 not a void test to see if the turbo is bad. He talked me out of buying a turbo. He did say a little leaking out of the piston seals could be normal.

I feel that this leak is not good, but my performance on my truck is not suffering other than I need to slow down to 50 MPH going up an extended 6% grade Because of EGTs reaching 1300, while towing A 12k fifth wheel.

I鈥檓 not losing sleep over this, but I鈥檒l feel more comfortable once I put a new turbo over in it. Perhaps 鈥渁dding to longevity I鈥檒l put in for reasons to buy.

1300 EGT unloaded? What tune and turbo are you running? What elevation are you at on that grade? I can pull 6% with camper at the speed limit (55) with TSD MPD tune on 190 30s and Stage2 and not be much over 1100. I do have Odawg intake and colt stage 2 cam with 4" exhaust for what its worth.

Left out the part of towing 12k uphill and reaching 1300 EGTs. I鈥檒l edit the original post to reflect this.

I鈥檓 not tuned or modded except for the BPD air cooled oil cooler. I have emissions inspections yearly, so I have the CAT and muffler, so keeping those devices adds to the temps.

A reputable shop did tell me replacing the original fuel injectors that have seen 197k may be the next step to bringing EGTs down.

So far ARP's and KDD heads, not worrying about head gaskets leaving me stranded in the middle of nowhere is fanfreakintastic

Got ya, that makes much more sense now.

Still figuring what the best next step to lower EGTs: fuel injectors or turbo. Maybe what I鈥檓 seeing is normal. I think with the cat and muffler, nothing is guaranteed to lower EGT, except water or meth injection, so all I can do is put the money down and hope for the best.

Ok, ok...I'll put my BPD air-to-oil cooler at the top of my list of mods and give credit where credit is due. I had forgotten all about the thing...because that is what it does best -- makes you forget about it, which is a very good thing!
