okay so i have been looking for a truck for the past 4 or 5 months. my past truck was a dodge v8 but i needed something with a little more power and room so now im looking at a diesel. i found a 1994 F350 crew cab and im just seeing what you guys think about it. i need a crew cab because i need something with a second row in it.

The truck has 142,000 on it it. 5 inch exhaust, performance chip and a intake. new alternator, 2 new batteries and the transmission was just redone 10,000 miles ago. he also said it has a new headunit which really does not matter to me. also cames with a cap on the back too.

the only thing im really worried about is the performance upgrades i can do to a 1994. like i would like to put stacks on it a tony wildman chip and maybe a bigger turbo with new injectors. maybe also lift it up a little bit but im not really worried about that right now because it has a pretty nice stance to it right now.

just seeing what your guys think about it? he is asking 8,500 for it and also wanted to see if thats a pretty good price for a truck like this with this low of miles?

thanks guys

ok first things first....is it an early, or late 94?? Not trying to make ya look dumb....just making sure it truly is a Powerstroke and not an IDI Turbo....I've had both, and love both....nothing to be afraid of either.....just far less power comes from an IDI....at least for the same money.....I have a 97 crew cab and love it....what kind of chip is on it now? mileage doesnt sound too bad for the year.....everything you listed you want to do is very in reason. Price doesnt sound bad either if its clean.

As stated, you'll need to know if it's an early, or late model '94. There's quite a difference between the two motors offered. (just find out what the date on the door badge says)

The truck has really low miles, and that's great. That means it still has over 350K left in it before you hit the 500K.:icon_ford::thumb:

As for the mods you have mentioned. They're standard, and easy to do. The turbo though........well, you might not do anything to it. If you're thinking of the difference between OBS and SD trucks, then you might be surprised to know that the SD's actaully have a smaller turbo than the OBS trucks. So, with that being said, you can upgrade your turbo, but there are a lot of things, that are smaller, easier, and cheaper to do to boost performance before you reach for a new turbo.

im not sure if it is a late or a early 94. i just emailed the guy asking some more questions about it and hopefully he will get back to me today. the chip is a ts performance chip, its a 6 position chip. just wondering what you guys think about that chip. if any you guys have it and if you like it or not. do you guys think it is better or worse then a tony wildman chip or are they the same ? he said the only real problem is that the body is just a little rough on it.

Ok. Well, if he's got a TS chip on it, then I'd venture to say that it's "probably" a late model '94. (like my truck) The TS is a good chip, and is comperable to a TW, BP, Beans, Swamps, etc. These chips are set up for "that" truck, and the "specific" mods that it has done to it. These chips are also "reburnable". What this means is this.

If you find that the exhaust or intake haven't been moded, and you upgrade your intake, and straight pipe the exhaust, then the chip won't be set up to "optimize" your trucks setup. You can then send in the chip, informing the chip creators of what's been done (say intake and exhaust for example) and they'll reburn/ reflash the chip to make the best power from those mods. All in all, I'd say you'd be quite happy with the TS. I've not heard anything bad about them. Plus, you might want "different" tunes, than what's burnt onto the chip. You can also have these "tunes" changed out for other ones of "your" choosing.

Hope this helps. And if you've got any questions, feel free to ask.

i think the price is a bit high. the newer tranny is good but still a bit high. where do you live? i know around here a truck like that can be found for $6k to $7,500.

i dont know if the TS accounts for much in the tranny. i havent heard anything bad either but i have seen people who have their TS reburned to a TW say it makes a difference. aside from the mods, if the motor has been cared for it should be fine. tranny is the biggie with mods but if its on 10k old you should be cool for a while.

good luck man!

I agree. $8500 might be a little steep, but it also depends on where you're at geographically. I'm sure he's also wanting a bit more money cause it's pretty low on miles.

If you can, look under the hood, pull the vin (crash history), test drive it, and if it's good, see if the price is negotiable. (keeping in mind, each bank is different) My bank cuts a cashiers check in the other persons name, so it's essentially the same as me handing them $XXX in cash. (people like getting cash, especially bank certified cash).

IF you really like the truck than i wouldnt offer over $7500, if it has a rough body then i would try to find a cleaner looking truck. You may have to shop around but you should be able to find what your looking for.

As far as the ts chip goes i have had 1 before. they are good for generic tunes. you can get it reburnt to custom tunes from almost anyone.
