I have a job1 6.4 and looking to remove the external trans filter. My question is, am I able to just simply remove the filter and lines and replace them with newer lines with no filter? Or do I need to get a newer pan an sump also? Any input helps. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you would want to get a new pan and use the real internal filter. I've heard the lines can be a real pain to remove also
Isn't the job1 internal filter smaller than the newer ones?

The job 1 internal filter is nothing more then a screen. Those lines are a biotch to remove. I kept mine in place and just keep the fluid fresh

I just swapped a derale pan on mine and new style filter in. Yes the new internal filter is bigger then the job 1 internal filter/screen. To use a newer internal filter you must swap pans. So far I have left my external filter in place but this afternoon I plan to either gut it and reinstall or, make 2 small lines to go in place of the filter.
