Follow this. If you can, evacuate the air conditioning, it will save you a lot of time and frustration. You remove the vacuum equipment and battery. Disconnect the AC, 5 nuts from inside (look at my pic of it off to see the position) and it comes out very quickly. If you do it leaving the coil in, it can add well over an hour, or more if you have difficulty getting things apart. I did it just to try it. I won't do it again.

thank you very much Twoicebergs.
i have all the a/c tools, vacuum pump and a 30 lbs jug of r134a.
do you know if there is a blend door issue on these trucks that i should address while im there?
2004 f350

i changed the a/c screen last year because it had weak a/c and weighed the refrigerant back into into it but it didnt change. i was thinking blend door or controls but never got that excited about it, lol.

very helpful info

You don't have to pull the evap. I took half the cover off and was able to pull the heads and do studs.

I just didn't see any other way with the room I had. Even with the cover off, it wouldn't work for me, the studs were not coming out. The last bolt would have required a hole in the AC box to slide it out. Perhaps just the heads would fit after the some of studs were in, but it wasn't happening for me. I wonder if there is a difference with a CC and a regular cab for space?
