'97 F350 Powerstroke has developed a vibration above 2,000 rpm in gear or in neutral. Feels like I'm running over rubble-strips. Doesn't happen all the time and many times when it start vibrating if I shut the engine down and re-start the vibration is gone.

What do you guys think, motor mounts, clutch..???

Thanks for any info.

I'm guessing the truck is 5 speed. Does it do it at all speeds?
Does it do it in every gear?
Do you think it's comming from engine or could possibly be drive line, hanger barring u joint

Crawl under and shake drive shaft for play,

Use flash light and look at rubber on motor mounts each side of block, check for cracks pieces missing and transmission mount on cross member.

Get someone to sit in truck while you watch motor, get them to rev it up and watch if motor "twist" too much, that will tell you if mounts. I don't think would be personally.

Thanks for the replies. I pulled the tranny and found the bearing on the duel flywheel dead. Converted to a single mass flywheel. Clutch pressure needed to get use to but all is well now.
