Need Help! Electrical Problem: Hi Kaya or anyone else. Not sure if Kaya is here anymore? New problem. Electrical. Fuse box. Cig lighter / OBD2 no work. No power. I used power inverter in cig lighter and blew out fuse and sparked each time I replaced fuse. Now has good fuse in there and no spark, but no power. Now no power to both cig lighter sockets and OBD2 connector. Checked all fuses under dash. Replaced bad one. All good fuses under dash and under hood. Everything else works as far as I know, such as radio, dash lights, head lights, dome light, etc. Maybe burned wires, short where fuse connects inside box? What to do? Ideas? Suggestions? Must fix. Need cig lighter and OBD2 to work. Hope it is simple issue, but can't find, solve, fix problem. Appreciate any help. Thanks. JR

I would personally unhook the cig lighter that had the issues. Then try a different fuse. You could of caused some connection issues at the fuse box with the sparks. Take a pick and scrape the connections.

Dude, Calm down, sit down and read this very carefully. I've never gotten such a strange response like yours in my entire half century on this planet. When someone asks for help, don't lecture them on how to ask for help. You can either help or you can't. I just explained the whole thing. If you cannot figure it out from what I shared, then I'll have to wait for someone who can. When I post, I give as much details as possible to help someone understand. This isn't Twitter, it's not limited to 140 characters, you know. (Even they are doubling the message capacity.) If you don't mean to offend, then don't reply in an offensive manner. Don't respond to me unless you can understand what I'm talking about and you know how to fix it. Otherwise, don't waste my time. Drink some herbal tea or see a psychiatrist about your anxiety and emotional problems. Unbelievable response. Funny. Ha. LOL. JR

I read this and I feel like I’m having an anxiety attack... Slow your roll buddy... don’t mean to offend. now wth is wrong with your truck in 2-3 sentences?!!!

I've already replaced the fuse several times as it sparked and burned out. After taking the 2 cig lighter sockets out and checking those, I put another good fuse in and it did not burn out. The current fuse is good ever since then. But, no power. So changing the fuse is not fixing it. A wire maybe burned inside the fuse box. Does anyone know if there's a way to open the fuse box to access the wire connections in order to examine them? Never tried that before, so not sure how to open up the fuse box / circuit box, whatever you want to call it. Obviously, disconnect the battery / power before doing so. Anyone here who is an electrical technician who can take this to the next level to help me solve the problem? I guess I'm just going to have to do some research on that fuse box and how to open and access the wire connections. Kai from Canada was my best helper here. Where is he? Gone? Too bad, he was a great help. Thanks for trying. JR

Lol your sentences were very abrupt and structured in a way that it sounded like you were mad or had an anxiety attack thus that is why I said what I said.

Your replies above are formulated to flow better for easier ingestion. I understood your reply to me but not your first reply for assistance.

Glad someone can decipher what you were saying and can give you a helping hand!

Hey. I see. Well, I just put my story out there best I can. I was not mad, but it's not unusual to be mad when you're broken down on the road or can't fix something that you rely on. Ha. For example, no power to my cig lighter and OBD2 connection means I can't run things I normally run off of that. There's no difference in my first post or replies. I am a writer, editor and I excel in verbal and written communication. Maybe you just need to clean your glasses, wasn't fully awake or didn't drink your coffee yet? Ha. LOL. And, no, I still have not fixed the problem. Have a good day! JR

I would start by getting a meter so you can ohm out your circuits. Pull the fuse (you can't ohm a live circuit) and find the fused side. And ohm the power wire from the cig plugs. You can also ohm to the obd2 port. Might want to ohm from the fused side to ground.

I also know nothing about electrical, but lets not forget that Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, "Spare Tire" Dixon.

Yeah, I'm in the coffee shop now, but when I get out of here, I will get the sledge hammer out and bust that fuse box to pieces so I can take a look inside! Thanks! JR

Idon't know a lot about the electrical side but I would think that you should take the fuse down [4 10 mm screws] and look for some fried wires it doesn't take more than a few minutes and with luck a fried wire should be easy to see

No offense. Just bringing a little humor here for you, me and everyone. It's a lot better to have some humor than the raging anger I was doing the other day when this problem was getting to me. Ever have that happen or are you totally contained no matter what happens? You seem like a good guy. Have a good day! JR

Lol still taking cheap shots at me. I guess I do since you excel in writing/editing. No worries.

Hope you find the issues you’re having. You’ll figure it out sooner or later.

I’m pretty much contained / in control when chit happens - my wife contributes to that part of me quite a bit. I don’t get angry toonoften b/c like my iPhone, she will autocorrect me in a split second - and it ain’t no pat in the back lol.
