Hi Everyone I am new to the forum. I will be welding/plugging the EGR cooler on a 2006 6.0. My question is : Do I need a tuner to erase the EGR valve function or can I just leave it plugged in so it can open/close without exaust gasses running through it.

Un plug the valve and see if you get a code.

Got a code when unplugged. I intend to leave it plugged but wonder if I will get a code when no exhaust gas passes through the valve. Will it stay shut or still try to open and close ?

Youre gonna need a tune. Block off exhaust at up pipe and leave valve plugged in and tune accordingly. Fan circuit goes through valve.
