Ok so my 98 Quigley 4x4 club wagon van 7.3ps shut down while driving when I was in CA visiting my inlaws. cranked but no start. All fuses were ok, could not connect a scanner though there was power at the obd2 port and at the lighter, no fuel pressure, and wait to start was not lighting. did some research online and decided that the ECM had fried. ordered one up from autocomputerexchange.com and once it finnaly came, it fired right up. having to get back to Colorado for work, we headed out, almost immediiatly the truck would be running fine, then cut out, wait to start light would come on, and water in fuel light would come on. with a lift of the accelorator, it seemed to reset and then keep running. It would do this randomly with no connection to load or throttle position. about 150 miles out, it seemed to fry the ECM again with all the same clues as before. got it home to CO on a trailer. what I need to know is what could be frying the ECM without poping the 30 amp fuse? the fuel bowl with heater was removed, cut and taped when I put in a regulated return fuel system.
