Here's the lowdown on my plans, and budget... I know you guys love helping people spend their money... I have an Early 99 and i just hit it's 3 year anniversary with me, and 310,000 miles. I'm not looking for big HP number, just wanting to freshen her up... in addition to the mods in my sig, I've added a 17* HPOP (and a new IPR) in the last couple weeks, and some other fiddly bits (new starter, alternator, power steering pump and brake booster) all due to failure, but I want to upgrade instead of just replace some other stuff here's what i'm looking at...

1) New injectors, as I have one thats starting to stick...(AD probably maybe stage ones...)
2) New Turbo (Most likely a Van Turbo, or a D66)
3) Billowed Up-Pipes (mine have developed a leak)
4) Good Tunes (Would like a 6 pos custom Tuner)
5) Get that stupid overhead computer fixed (idk why it bothers me that it doesnt work, it just does)

I have a budget of about 3 grand, and would like to spend less than that if possible... I do haul around 6-9k trailers up, down and around the Mountains, but I'd rather have cheap and reliable than crazy fast... not looking for huge hp gains, just a good "tune-up" if you will but i have some questions before I drop money wildly...

1) The Turbo: I know the van turbo is non-wastegated and i believe the D66 is... is there a huge problem not having the wastegate? Iknow the larger Exhaust housing helps lower EGT's (which have been rising since i blew that up pipe gasket) but what other advantages are there to a bigger Turbo?
2)Are the AD injectors a big improvement over my AB's? I know new they are cheaper than a set of stage 1's and have a bigger fuel shot than my AB's but is it worth the "upgrade" and what else would i need to change to support that Mod?
3) What's the best price, and tuner for me to get who has what, and with the best results?
4) Is there anything I'm leaving out?

I really need to stay in this budget, and I also know it's time for my Winter Maintenance schedule (new gp's and new batteries so that needs to be in that budget as well) I know I could get a big oil set-up or get the 38r set-up for a couple grand, I'm not interested in that... I just want your candid advice before I drop a ton of money...

idk why it bothers me so much mine doesn't work... it's not like it does much but I guess I just want everything to work... I'll look on ebay for some prices then, Gary I see you have AD's on your truck, was it a big improvement over the AB's?

I'm a rather docile creature. Watch my **** start breaking, and see my anger-switch engage rather quickly.

If all your looking for is a little bit more power, go no further than Rosewoods stage 1's. You'll be sitting around 400/800 with Beans tuning.

are the rosewood stage 1's the ones beans sells? is there a big difference between maker x's stage ones, and maker y or z? i know there is places to stay away from (ie pensacola) but for the most part are the different manufactures about on par with each other?

For the most part, the big-time Powerstroke injectors producers are all about the same in quality. the biggest difference is, when you buy beans injectors, you buy the whole injectors, plus their tricks to make them flow more fuel. When you buy rosewoods injectors, you are using your injectors, and just having Rose clean the guts out and up the flow.

sorry, i havent checked back with this thread. i didnt feel much of an improvement when i switched tot he ADs. i noticed that the boost builta lot quicker and i could see some light smoke out of the tailpipe at wot. so i knew i was definately getting more fuel. as a performance upgrade, go with something else. mine were low mileage and freshened things up.
