Hey Y'all,

Some advice sought from those who have been thru it before.


Installing Sinister's EGR delete, as per their instructions. see link: http://www.mkmcustoms.com//instructions/instructions.pdf

presoaked all bolts/nuts.....and all break free relatively easily, with pipe on ratchet. HOWEVER, once broken free.....they all spin, requiring sockets to both bolt and nut. No biggie until.......

Driver side up pipe (fig 7.1 in link above). The one side was easily accomplished like the others...BUT when I went to the other....IT WAS ALREADY loose and spun freely and had about 1/2 play in it. SOOOOO, either someone tried to remove it once before or they did remove it and did a half a$$ install.

QUESTION: how the heck to you get any socket in the upper side???? tight fit on the bottom but accessible. I need a socket from above to tighten it completely, but with the heat shield in the way, I don't see how to reach it.

Any suggestions????

Absolutely hate this TEXAS heat....sorry if i sound too frustrated, but I guess I am...LOL

Not necessarily. You get a lot of slack when you loosen those up and the metal stretches a little when you tighten the bolts. It happens every time.
I had a socket on the underside, and a curved wrench on the top side. A helper is greatly appreciated at this time...

OK...I'll accept the theory on loosening. However, there is no way a wrench is going on either side. I guess a team approach with a socket on a very long extention(s) from above, with person under guiding in onto bolt. Then another from below with another socket, extention, and swivel adapter on the nut.....

A cool mind, heart, and soul makes a huge difference....a few shots didn't hurt either :shots:

I used a curved wrench (like a U), like the old style you would use on a distributor. Trust me, not much extra room. I was under the truck, a friend we call "baby fingers" was up on top.

Puchased a flex head ratchet added swivel adapter, let it hang.....and tightened from bottom with torque wrench.....worked great.
