Well I'm due for some new batteries and I don't want to go cheap. the only brands I am considering are
-Odyssey (or sears platinum if Odyssey still makes them)
-Interstate
-Maybe Costco (cheap with good warranty, if the warranty is the same as it used to be)

Does Odyssey still made the Platinum diehard battery?

I know these threads pop up all the time but I did a search and they were all old posts! What would you buy?

why the heck is the group 65 Odyssey $300 each and the Diehard only $219? doesn't seem right if they are the same.

I have the Die Hard (Gold) and love them..... 880CCA and definately shortened craniking when starting! :thumb:

Sears had the best Waranty I found, too! :nod:

Last time I checked the Platinums are still made by odyssey. Sears can sell them cheaper cause of economies of scale. Sears can sell a ton and thus can buy a ton of batteries..the more you buy the less each costs and thus the less you can sell it for.

Check out the Ford Batteries. I bought two in March and they have and AMAZING warranty. 3 yr free replacement and 8 year pro-rated

I have the Odyssey/Diehard in my SD and intended to put a set in my OBS to replace the Costco batteries but they just won't die. When I bought my OBS, it had been sitting for over a year and showed <1v on my meter. Batteries were just out of warranty, I think 3 years. I charged them up and have been driving it for almost a year.

I am very happy with the Sears Platinum batteries. Can't beat the warranty. But on the other hand, I got a little over 10 years of service out of the original Motorcraft batteries.

I bought Motorcraft a few months ago for less than $400 for the pair. No problems starting at all.

I am happy with my autozone duralast gold's. my bad alternator killed a set, and they swapped them out, no hassle. second set is great, first set was great too, but like I said, my alt killed them.

Im goin with the Platinums when it comes time. Powerstrokenation had a whole thread on rating batteries and how theyre made and so forth. Had input from guys that used to work for these car battery companies and make them, and hands down, Odyssey/Diehard Platinum were the best, not to mention made in usa.
