Hey All,

On my way to work this morning i came across an odd dilemma with my defrost. I went pass a car and when i got on the throttle i noticed a noise similar to a rock getting kicked up into the fender which is what i thought it was so i didn't pay any attention to it. a few minutes later i heard the same noise yet a little more distinct although right after i heard that the defroster began to make a fairly aggressive grinding noise so i immediately shut off the heat. Once off the noise went away as i thought it could have been a mechanical issue due to how loud this noise was. Once i got to work i tested the defroster again with the truck in park although this time instead of making that grinding noise the idle seemed to change. I Checked under the hood as well as the under side of the truck and the only thing that caught my eye was a plastic bracket near the radiator broke off but I'm not sure if that was from today. It also seemed like the black tube that goes into the throttle body is looser than normal as it had some play when i checked to see if it was fully sealed. For context my 2011 6.7 is fully deleted with a mild Tyrant tune so any insight would be appreciated before i have to find anything out the hard way!

Thanks,
Joe

Sounds like the blend door actuator. Or, a squirrel dropped a nut in the fan housing for the HVAC.

My guess is you have something sitting on the blower motor fan. I had a gum wrapper sitting in mine. There is no cabin filter so it’s pretty much a clear path to the fan. You can drop the blower motor to check. Not an easy job but not horrible either.
