Hey guys,

My truck came from Canada so it has daytime running lights in the headlights, since the truck isnt in Canada anymore I would like to get rid of them. So im wondering if you guys know how to disable the daytime running lights in the headlights?

Thanks, Matt

I know in my Semi trucks there is a fuse that you pull. Wish I could help. I'll give you a bump!

I was wondering the same thing. I know on older chevys there is a sequence you can do to disable them, seems like ford would be the same.

I believe there is a little black box on the drivers side that controls daytime running lights by the headlight. If you unplug it your lights will function normally. I can't remember the specifics but I think all trucks come with the plug just not the black box. :dunno:

Its funny this should come up, because I just did the opposite. I bought a truck in the states to bring to canada, and had to make the DRL work

The way Ford did it was actually rather smart on their part. They made all the wiring for it come to the front to a plug behind the drivers side headlight. In canada, they take out a plug, and plug in the DRL module. In the states, they place a plug in the wiring. The plug shorts out wires for the high beam lights and for the park brake.

The theory is that, you only want your lights on in the daytime at 66% of normal capacity. So the module limits the voltage to the LOW beam. But, it also has to disable the low beam filament in the bulb, when the HI beam is turned on, so it also has to know when the HI beam switch is enabled. The high beam wire needs to be shorted so that the light on the dash will illuminate when you go to Hi beam. Also, when you put the park brake on, it should disable the daytime running lights. So , that wire needs to be shorted as well in order for the PARK brake light to be illuminated on the dash.

My crude picture shows in black lines what wires need to be shorted together. First, unplug the DRL Module, then make your modifications. Just in case I have my explanation screwed up, try jumpering those wires out at the plug and make sure it works before cutting any wires and splicing.

Hope this helps. If anyone wants to trade a plug for a DRL module, lemme know :)
