Dash Wiring harness

I have a 2015 F-350 XL, 4x4, crew cab, 6.7. Fried the dash wiring in late December and a new harness has been on backorder. The dealership finally told us a couple of weeks ago that they were not making the harness anymore. Trying to find one online and in salvage yard and am pulling my hair out. My question is, does it have to come out of the same year and trim package and equipment group or do I have some wiggle room. Everyone that is trying to sell me one assures me that theirs will work. We found the cause of the short and fixed it, but need to make sure it is the right harness so we can trace any modules or anything else bad.

I can say this from experience, it is naturally ideal to use the same trim package and year of harness, however some higher or lower packages "may" interchange as well. I will not promise it as I know for example, the Crown victoria wire harness between an LX and a P71 are very different.

Salvage is a possibility, however in my experiences, most prefer to scrap wiring, failing to really understand the profit for an undamaged engine or dash harness. they prefer the sawzall and move forward tactic to just get engines out as quick as possible, and don't worry about everything else.

I am finding out that most do not care about the harness.
